Journal Question: Is your book humorous, tragic, or both? Give some examples of the mood/tone that is set. Do you feel the situation/plot of your book is realistic? is the dialogue authentic? In other words, would actual teens talk like this?

My book; The Hunger Games, is both humorous and tragic. I think the plot is very tragic. There is a competition each year where people fight until death. Is that unreal to you? Even though it's fake and never would happen, it's still extremely tragic. Another Tragic thing is they become friends with their competitors, then go out and have to kill them. The humorous things in the book are the characters words and actions. I think it's funny how they seem to be friends one moment, but they're always fighting. Katniss and Peeta are really big rivals, but they're both playing each other pretending to be friends. I find this funny because it happens in real life too. I also thought it was funny when Katniss shot an arrow toward the game makers because they weren't watching her. I have a temper too, so it seems like something I would do. I would be just as mad if nobody was paying attention to my skills when there supposed to be judging me. I also think it's that they have to follow everything Haymitch says. Since Haymitch is a drunk, he could be completely psycho by telling them to do something. If he was drunk, he could tell them to do something unnecessary and not remember it. By doing this he could ruin the games for Katniss and Peeta. If I were either of them, I wouldn't listen to him and do my own thing. The mood set by this story is scariness and wonder. I'm scared for Katniss and Peeta that they have to be in the games. I also wonder what I would do if I were in the games if this were a real thing.
